We are looking for a dynamic and experienced professional to lead Mahindra’s Product Sustainability & ELV
Compliance function. The ideal candidate will bring over 15 years of deep domain expertise in automotive
environmental compliance, materials technology, and sustainability strategy, with a strong track record of
managing teams, driving regulatory alignment, and enabling export readiness across global markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the ELV & Sustainability Compliance function, managing a team of engineers and specialists.
Set strategic direction, allocate resources, and ensure timely delivery of compliance objectives.
- Define and implement sustainability frameworks that integrate lifecycle analysis, recyclability, and
eco-design principles. Align product development with global environmental and ESG goals.
- Ensure effective implementation of ELV, RoHS, REACH, and other international environmental
directives. Maintain compliance readiness for domestic and export markets.
- Oversee IMDS submissions, supplier declarations, and internal audits. Ensure accuracy,
completeness, and traceability of material compliance data across platforms.
- Develop and maintain internal standards and procedures for ELV and hazardous material
compliance. Drive consistency across vehicle programs and supplier networks.
- Collaborate with Homologation, platform teams, and suppliers to ensure regulatory alignment and
timely resolution of compliance issues.
- Train internal teams and suppliers on IMDS, compliance tools, and sustainability practices. Build
functional capability and foster a culture of proactive compliance.
- Monitor global regulatory changes and export vehicle compliance. Provide timely updates and risk
assessments to internal stakeholders.
- Apply deep knowledge of automotive materials regulations to guide material selection, ensure
conformity, and support sustainable product development.
- Drive innovation in material circularity, sustainable sourcing, and process optimization to reduce
environmental impact.
Person Profile:
Educational
Qualification
Education: B.E. / B.Tech / M.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering,
Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Environmental Science.
Experience
Experience: 15+ years in automotive sustainability, environmental compliance, and
materials technology.
Competencies
Proven proficiency in IMDS and IDIS platforms for material declaration and
compliance tracking.
Strong understanding of ELV RRR calculations, hazardous substance
identification, and recyclability norms.
Exposure to Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), carbon footprint analysis, and
circular economy frameworks.
Familiarity with material grades, compositions, and sustainability metrics.
Basic programming or algorithmic thinking for data automation and
analysis
