What will you do?
As a React Native Developer, you will work closely with your colleagues in the mobile app team, UX experts, designers, project managers, and often with your fellow engineers from the web team. You will develop and maintain custom React Native apps for our clients and integrate them with back-end systems and web apps. You will ensure the correct setup of the app, choose the right third-party components and SDKs, and of course, handle the hardcore development! You will coach, help, and support your colleagues and take responsibility for the technical delivery of the project.
Who are you?
- You have at least 6 years of full-time experience in React & React Native development with ES6/ES2015.
- You have experience in lifecycle management and know how to implement (JavaScript and native) third-party SDKs.
- Redux, Webpack, Jest, and GIT are part of your natural habitat.
- You can adjust configurations or set build dependencies in Xcode and Android Studio.
- Native knowledge of iOS and/or Android is a big plus.
- You follow the React Native community closely, experiment with new components or libraries, and come up with innovative ideas that make your project unique.

About the project
"Safeplace" is one of our most-exciting projects: this "crisis and emergency management platform" (cases of floods, earthquakes, wildfires, chemical risks) developed within ESA’s Civil Security from Space (CSS) program aims to give disaster-management services better situational awareness by combining space-based data and ground data for faster, better-coordinated interventions of rescue teams!
Tasks and activities
- Designing, developing, and maintaining both front-end (React) and back-end components for a cutting-edge European crisis management platform (ESA Civil Security from Space program).
- Building and documenting robust, scalable APIs (i.e. REST, GraphQL), integrating both relational and NoSQL databases.
- Ensuring production-grade code quality, security, and performance for all deliverables.
- Implementing advanced front-end architectures using React with TypeScript, state management (e.g., Redux or Context API), component modularization, responsive/adaptive layouts and websockets.
- Applying and enforcing modern UI/UX standards for high usability and accessibility (WCAG/ARIA), ensuring cross-browser and mobile compatibility.
- Integrating and operating in a DevOps environment: containerization (Docker), CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins), cloud deployment (Azure preferred).
- Writing and maintaining unit, integration, and end-to-end tests for both backend and frontend (e.g., Jest, Testing Library, Cypress).
- Collaborating in code reviews, actively share knowledge, and enforce clean code, maintainability, and tech debt management.
- Quickly diagnosing and troubleshooting complex problems across the stack; proactively suggest and implement refactoring or enhancements.
- Providing critical analysis of programming practices to improve software quality and team efficiency.
Skills and experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Software engineering, Computer science, informatics or Similar.
- At least 2-3 years in a professional environment as Full stack, front end or Software developer/Engineer.
- Proficiency in relevant programming languages (e.g, C#, JavaScript).
- Good knowledge of React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS.
- Familiarity with exchange protocols (e.g. REST JSON, WebSockets) and ability to work with a provided Interface Control Document.
- Good understanding of UI/UX principles, responsive design, and modern front-end development best practices.
- Familiar with Windows, Linux and containerized deployments (e.g. Docker).
- Postgresql and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with back-end technologies including message brokers (RabbitMQ, AMQP), geospatial servers is a plus (GeoServer, WFS, WMS), web servers and proxies (Nginx), authentication and identity management (Keycloak), and observability tools (OpenTelemetry, Zipkin) in cloud and containerized environments.
- Experience in Git, Jira, BitBucket and working within SCRUM/Agile environments.
- Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
- Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
