Job Title-Lead Engineer Calibration

Experience Level-5+ Years

Job Location-Chennai

Job Description:

a) Gasoline engine Optimization involving activities like, steady state performance and emission development, including but not limited to combustion system, injection system, exhaust after-treatment system and generating Cal dataset.

b) Gasoline vehicle calibration involving vehicle emission development, vehicle calibration, drivability, environmental corrections, cold start and OBDI & OBD-II.

c)  Emission & Performance Robustness and homologation trials for engine type approval.     

d) Develop competency on methodologies and tools in calibration development

e) Liaise with EMS suppliers and other key system suppliers for system selection and optimization.

f) Liaise with CFT like Vehicle Integration, NVH, Electricals, Performance simulation, Engine development center, Reliability and Service for engineering targets delivery.

g) Plan for the day-to-today calibration activities and maintain a project tracker.

h) Collect & collate benchmark data.

i) Analyze the issues arising out of the test to confirm the design by root cause analysis of the problems / issues by using various problem-solving techniques like Global 8D or other problem-solving tools.

 

Skills critical for the role:

1. Basic understanding of engine architecture

2. Basic understanding of combustion systems and emission control. Effects of combustion hardware on performance and emission.

3. Knowledge of calibration software -INCA and other data acquisition tools.

4. Basic coding skills in MATLAB and /or Python

5. Knowledge of vehicle sub systems which affect vehicle performance parameters

6. Knowledge of steady state engine development on engine bench

7. Knowledge of EMS system component selection and evaluation methods

8. Knowledge of vehicle calibration, comfort functions, drivability, IOBD etc

9. Understanding of Intake, exhaust, cooling and fuel system interfaces on engine performance and emissions.

10. Failure analysis, root cause analysis

11. Awareness of emission cycles, Various norms & Regulations along with test procedures.
