Job Description
We are seeking a Critical Engineer - Chillers who will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of chiller systems that support critical infrastructure environments for the data center facilities. Work with the operations team to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and efficiency of cooling systems, working closely with cross-functional teams to meet operational requirements.
Key Accountabilities:
- Maintain and optimize chiller systems to ensure reliability and efficiency in critical environments.
- Conduct regular maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting of chiller equipment.
- Monitor performance metrics and implement improvements as needed.
- Collaborate with facility management and engineering teams to assess cooling requirements and capacity planning.
- Develop and maintain documentation for system specifications, maintenance procedures, and emergency protocols.
- Manage vendor relationships for equipment procurement, maintenance contracts, and repairs.
- Provide technical support during system installations, upgrades, and modifications.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to cooling systems.
- Conduct training sessions for staff on chiller operation and maintenance best practices.
- Oversee contractor work and FM operations to ensure completion to required standards, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Manage customer requirements such as inquiries, deployment, expansion, tours, etc., and prioritize customer emergencies or urgent issues as they arise, making every effort to provide a long-term resolution.
- Communicate and coordinate activities with on-site staff during an incident and support for a root cause analysis and resolve the incident. Also, where possible, based on the outcome of the root cause analysis, put in place a preventive action plan.
- Comply with all relevant safety, quality, and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
- The job holder may be required to undertake additional duties, which may be reasonably expected and form part of the function of the job.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
Minimum Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in chiller systems design and maintenance, preferably in critical environments.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC principles and energy management.
- Proficiency in using engineering software and tools for system design and analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Job-Specific Skills (Generic / Technical):
- Fluency in English (read, write, speak) with strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to meet or exceed the company’s attendance and punctuality standards.
- Ability to evaluate objectively, fairly, and consistently and work in a high-pressure environment, meet deadlines, and simultaneously develop, deploy, and coordinate multiple projects.
- Ability to understand and follow directions, self-driven, work independently with minimal supervision, must be inspirational, enjoy motivating others, and able to manage multiple tasks.
- Analytical, problem solver, logical thinker with attention to detail. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or presentation form.
- Ability to deal and resolve problems involving several entities, people, or variables.
- Experience with BMS (Building Management Systems) and energy monitoring systems.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.).
