AI Expert - Autonomous Driving Safety

We are seeking an AI Expert – Safety Related Systems to join our client’s advanced R&D team in Germany. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping the future of safe autonomous driving by designing, developing, and refining AI-driven solutions that push the boundaries of innovation. You will work on cutting-edge neural network architectures, ensure compliance with global safety standards, and collaborate closely with international experts to integrate robust safety mechanisms into complex AI systems. Responsibilities

• Drive innovation by exploring and developing AI solutions that enhance the safety of autonomous driving systems, challenging the current state of the art.
• Design AI-based safety solutions aligned with ISO 8800, ISO 21448, and other relevant standards, implementing effective safety mechanisms for AI-driven systems.
• Extend, adapt, and optimize state-of-the-art neural network architectures to address safety-critical challenges in autonomous driving.
• Stay continuously informed about the latest AI technologies, industry regulations, standards, trends, and emerging best practices.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of AI-based systems, neural network architectures, relevant hardware/software platforms, and performance evaluation techniques.
• Practical hands-on experience applying AI systems to safety-critical functions subject to regulatory oversight.
• Proactive, hands-on mindset with the ability to motivate and collaborate with international teams.
• Knowledge of autonomous driving algorithms, driving policies, end-to-end networks, or foundational models is a strong advantage.
• Professional proficiency in English; German and/or Chinese language skills are beneficial.
• Willingness to travel internationally (up to 25%).
