Process Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a proficient Process Mechanical Engineer (PME, Level 2). The PME will have a hybrid role to design, develop, and implement automation solutions for commercial device assembly and packaging. The PME will also have the responsibility to lead our metrology services platform through Computer Tomography technology. You will lead complex projects with minimal supervision, provide technical expertise, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver industry-compliant solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stay updated on process mechanical engineering trends, providing expertise to acquirers, suppliers, and delivery teams. Lead efforts in Medical Device Assembly, Packaging and Metrology.
  • Define project scope, align priorities, and manage execution to meet objectives for scope, time, and budget.
  • Analyze stakeholder needs, develop solution architectures, understand CAD drawings, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Design, validate, and integrate automated assembly and packaging solutions, overseeing procurement and fabrication.
  • Execute and document verification activities, including Design of Experiments (DOE), Engineering Studies, FAT, SAT and compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Represent client interests with suppliers and advise on product design impacts for manufacturing and assembly.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, or biomedical engineering or related field.
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Process mechanical engineering principles (material flows, safety/quality by design, pneumatics, intelligent actuators/sensors).
  • Automated assembly, sequential operations design, power distribution, component fabrication, machining, and tolerance verification.
  • Critical thinking, analytical reasoning (applied math, decision dependencies, technical critical path).
  • Systems thinking (interdependency, systems analysis/engineering).
  • Communication (clear, concise, objective oral/written articulation).
  • Project management, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Problem-solving (cause-and-effect identification, collaborative trade space alternatives).
  • Overseeing small- to medium-scale projects and leading technical projects.
  • Independent process engineering and manufacturing process design refinement.
  • Collaboration on material selection, design feasibility, and aesthetics with cross-functional teams.
  • Researching new materials, manufacturing technologies, and finish options.
  • Informing prototype/production cost estimations (tooling, assembly, finishing, piece part).
  • Experience using metrology software platforms, particularly CT.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T.
