Job Description

We are looking for a Firmware FPGA Engineer to join an important project located in Madrid in a hybrid job modality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in FPGA firmware development.
  • Proficiency in VHDL and/or Verilog, with experience in simulation and synthesis tools (e.g., ModelSim, Vivado, Quartus).
  • Solid understanding of digital electronics, embedded systems, and hardware-software co-design.
  • Experience with communication protocols (SPI, UART, I2C, Ethernet, etc.).
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and documentation tools.
  • Fluent in English; Spanish is a plus.
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, or high-reliability sectors.
  • Exposure to DO-254, MIL-STD, or other regulated development environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop firmware for FPGAs using VHDL and/or Verilog, targeting platforms such as Xilinx, Intel (Altera), or Microsemi.
  • Define and implement digital architectures, including signal processing, control logic, and communication interfaces.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration between firmware and electronic designs.
  • Perform simulation, synthesis, timing analysis, and hardware validation of FPGA designs.
  • Develop and maintain testbenches and verification environments.
  • Support hardware bring-up, debugging, and troubleshooting in laboratory environments.
  • Document design specifications, implementation details, and validation procedures.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and security requirements in firmware development.
