Our organization is a high-growth, venture-backed entity building a generational open-source security infrastructure platform for the AI era. Trusted by engineers at world-class companies, the platform manages billions of secrets, certificates, and credentials every month.
The engineering team is seeking talented Design Engineers based in either the Americas or San Francisco to own and elevate the user-facing experience of this rapidly growing platform. Our organization views developer experience as a core product philosophy and obsesses over intuitive design and polished interfaces. This role is ideal for a deeply technical individual who possesses a sharp eye for aesthetics and the ability to build features end-to-end, with a heavy focus on frontend excellence (approximately 70%) and a supporting contribution to the backend (approximately 30%).
Key Responsibilities
- Experience Elevation: Continuously improve the look, feel, and usability of the platform by rethinking navigation, redesigning workflows, and raising the visual bar on every surface of the product
- Design System Leadership: Build and maintain a robust, reusable component library to ensure the engineering team can ship polished UI consistently and efficiently
- End-to-End Implementation: Take features from initial concept through to production across the full stack, ensuring the final output is both functional and beautiful
- Design Advocacy: Serve as the primary design voice within the engineering department, unblocking colleagues on UX questions, critiquing implementations, and championing intuitive UI
- Collaborative Innovation: Work closely with the co-founders and the broader engineering team to explore creative product directions and refine existing user experiences
Requirements
- Technical Proficiency: At least 3+ years of deep technical mastery within the JavaScript ecosystem, specifically with React and TypeScript
- Design Sensibility: A sharp eye for product design and intuitive UX, with the ability to identify and correct subtle interface issues

Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with product design or design tools such as Figma
- A proven track record of building or maintaining comprehensive design systems
- The ability to contribute to the creative design process, not just the implementation of existing designs
Benefits
- Compensation: Competitive salary ranges
- Equity: Meaningful equity options ranging from 0.05% - 0.25%
- Environment: Remote-first culture with a high-caliber team originating from top companies
- Support: A dedicated work setup budget and a recurring lunch stipend
- Connection: Opportunities for in-person off-sites, industry conferences, and team gatherings throughout the year
- Impact: The opportunity to take full ownership of design engineering for a platform scaling to thousands of customers globally
