As an experienced Project Engineer, you will support the delivery of industrial projects—particularly within refinery and heavy industrial environments—by coordinating engineering activities across mechanical, electrical, and/or structural disciplines. Based in Burnaby, BC, this client-facing role within a global engineering firm involves managing technical scope, schedule, and interfaces to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient project execution from concept through construction and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

Project Execution & Coordination

  • Coordinate multi-discipline engineering activities to meet project scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
  • Support project planning, work packaging, and progress tracking for industrial and refinery-related projects.
  • Interface with construction, commissioning, and operations teams to ensure engineering deliverables support field execution.

Technical Oversight

  • Review and verify engineering deliverables (drawings, calculations, specifications) for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
  • Support design development, technical clarifications, and resolution of engineering issues during all project phases.
  • Participate in hazard studies, constructability reviews, and design reviews as required.

Client & Stakeholder Interface

  • Act as a point of contact with clients for technical and execution-related matters.
  • Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to align technical requirements and schedules.
  • Prepare and support presentations, technical reports, and project updates for internal and external audiences.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure engineering activities align with health, safety, environmental, and quality management systems.
  • Support change management, risk identification, and mitigation throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5–10 years of relevant engineering experience on industrial projects; refinery or heavy industrial background strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting or leading project execution within an engineering consultancy or EPC environment.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industrial codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency with discipline-appropriate engineering software and common project controls tools (general familiarity expected).
  • Strong coordination, communication, and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada and willingness to work from or support projects based out of Burnaby, BC.
