Role Description

Our organization is searching for a System Acoustic Engineer (SAE) to assist with the development of new audio systems and acoustic hardware in the automotive industry. The SAE will support the Design Sciences team to engineer new audio components and systems for automotive applications. The SAE will work closely with a global team of mechanical engineers, transducer engineers and engineering technicians to bring these new concepts to life at a fully functional level as well as a high-level of quality and finish.

You will be working in the Design Sciences team: a multi-disciplinary group of engineers providing product development as a service (PDaaS) to automotive OEM customers. We leverage multi-disciplinary experience across automotive, professional, and consumer audio to deliver fresh perspectives and unconventional solutions in the audio hardware space. Our comprehensive Product Design as a Service (PDaaS) approach covers the product lifecycle from ideation, to definition, to prototype including product planning, empathetic design, engineering, and acoustic tuning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and simulation of acoustic systems – loudspeaker transducers and enclosures. You will be responsible for the acoustic development of speaker products ultimately destined for automotive applications.
  • Develop acoustic solutions, conduct sound tuning, and finalize designs
  • Specification of transducer hardware for new designs and projects
  • Select and simulate speaker system components
  • Develop full system acoustic architectures for new vehicles
  • Analyze and resolve acoustic-related technical issues in projects. Deliver project with efficiency and quality
  • Measurements of loudspeaker systems and vehicle audio systems

Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required

  • Strong understanding of loudspeaker simulation and ability to use tools
  • Experience in audio transducers, high-power electronics, acoustic system specification and conferencing products desired
  • Experience with DSP frameworks such as Audio Weaver, Sigma Studio, Dirac

Educational/Vocational/Previous Experience Recommendations

An acoustics-related degree or relevant technical degree or experience is recommended. Minimum 3 years of relevant previous experience is required, however, we value quality of experience rather than pure duration. Knowledge of automobiles and the automotive industry is essential, along with problem-solving and project management skills. Experience in a diverse multinational corporation is a plus. Must have a driver’s license and passport/ability to travel abroad.
