Intermediate Hydrotechnical Engineer

The organization is seeking an intermediate level Hydrotechnical Engineer to help lead the development and execution of hydrotechnical engineering services. The successful applicant will manage the development and execution of hydrotechnical engineering analysis and design to support various civil heavy earthworks projects.

Responsibilities include:

• Project management, including initiation, coordination, and execution
• Assisting in water resources business development
• Mentoring and managing intermediate and junior engineers
• Formulating design and detailed calculations, preparing reports, specifications, and construction cost estimates
• Hydrotechnical design and analysis including hydrologic modelling, hydraulics design, erosion and sediment control, flood analysis, and river engineering
• Coordinating with civil engineers and environmental scientists
• Developing and reviewing dam break inundation models
• Completing watershed delineation, runoff modelling, and water balance evaluations
• Preparing flood frequency analysis and design storm analysis
• Site inspection and supervision

Necessary Qualifications:

• Degree in Hydrotechnical, Water Resources, or Civil engineering
• Registered as, or ability to register as, a P.Eng. in Alberta
• Skills in hydraulic analysis software
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Willingness to travel and work in the field
• Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in hydrotechnical engineering
