Mechanical Design Engineer – Data Centres

Salary: €60,000 – €80,000 DOE

A specialist engineering consultancy is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing data centre team based in South Dublin. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with 3–7 years’ building services experience to work on large-scale, mission-critical data centre projects across Ireland and Europe.

The role is based in a brand-new, modern office and offers a hybrid working model, exposure to complex international projects, and clear long-term career progression. Due to continued growth, the company is open to appointing multiple engineers at this level.

The Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer within the Data Centre team, you will be responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of mechanical building services systems on high-value, technically complex projects. You will work closely with senior engineers, multidisciplinary design teams, and clients to deliver robust, energy-efficient, and resilient solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical building services systems for data centre projects, including HVAC, cooling systems, pipework, and associated infrastructure.
• Produce detailed calculations, drawings, and specifications in line with project requirements and industry standards.
• Coordinate mechanical designs with electrical, BIM, and architectural teams to ensure fully integrated solutions.
• Participate in technical design reviews and contribute to value engineering where appropriate.
• Attend design team meetings, client meetings, and technical workshops as required.
• Support site inspections, commissioning activities, and technical queries during construction phases.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant Irish, European, and international standards.
• Assist in the mentoring and development of junior engineers as the team grows.
• Manage assigned project tasks to agreed budgets, timelines, and quality standards.

Requirements

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 3–7 years’ experience in mechanical building services design, ideally within a consultancy environment.
• Previous experience working on data centres, mission-critical, industrial, or complex commercial projects is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, cooling strategies, and energy-efficient design principles.
• Experience using design tools such as AutoCAD and Revit; knowledge of thermal modelling software is advantageous.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication skills with a professional, client-facing approach.

Skills / Experience Required

• Broad knowledge of information security technologies, architectures, and operational processes, including information security management systems and industry standards (e.g. ISO 27001, COBIT, DORA, NIS2).
• Experience working with data, reporting, automation, or AI-enabled tools to support security processes.
• Experience managing or assessing security risks associated with third-party suppliers, cloud services, and outsourced environments.
• Proven ability to manage projects and influence stakeholders in complex organizational environments.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, professional documentation and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.

We are seeking a highly skilled MES (Manufacturing Execution System) Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing environments and a deep understanding of GxP compliance. This role involves designing, implementing, and supporting MES solutions to optimize production processes, ensure regulatory compliance, and enhance operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Configure MES Solutions: Develop and implement MES functionalities to support batch execution, electronic batch records (EBR), and production workflows.
• System Integration: Collaborate with automation, ERP, and IT teams to integrate MES with other systems (e.g., SAP, LIMS, SCADA).
• Compliance & Validation: Ensure MES systems comply with GxP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, and other regulatory requirements. Prepare and execute validation protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ).
• Troubleshooting & Support: Provide technical support for MES applications, resolve issues, and maintain system reliability.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance MES performance and streamline manufacturing processes.

Additional Information

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years working with MES systems (e.g., Koerber PAS-X, Rockwell Syncade, or similar). Must have Koerber PAS-X experience. Knowledge of Rockwell Pharmasuite, Siemens Opcenter & Emerson Syncade is an advantage. Strong background in pharmaceutical manufacturing and GxP compliance. Experience with system validation and regulatory audits.
• Technical Skills: Knowledge of SQL, scripting, and system configuration. Familiarity with integration to ERP and automation systems.
• Preferred: Experience with electronic batch records (EBR) implementation. Understanding of ISA-95 and ISA-88 standards. Previous involvement in MES deployment projects in regulated environments.

Job Description

The STA Design Engineer will be responsible for conducting complex timing signoff activities and driving closure for next-generation products.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform Static Timing Analysis (STA) and drive timing closure for complex cores and full-chip SOCs.
• Evaluate block-level and top-level timing on gate-level PNR netlists.
• Provide critical feedback to the RTL, Synthesis, and Physical Design teams to improve Power, Performance, and Area (PPA).
• Create and execute Timing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) to resolve critical timing violations.
• Enhance techniques and methodologies for timing closure and STA flow accuracy to reduce turnaround time (TAT).
• Develop automation scripts (Python, TCL, or Perl) for timing/power data mining and processing.

Key Requirements

• 4+ years of related work experience in Static Timing Analysis.
• Expert proficiency in STA tools such as PrimeTime, PrimeShield, or Tempus for hierarchical analysis in large SoCs.
• Hands-on experience with ECO tools for timing closure.
• Highly proficient in automation scripting using Python, TCL, or Perl.
• Strong knowledge of the complete ASIC design flow (RTL-to-GDS).
