The Opportunity
We are offering a position as a Secondary Engineer at our organization, Grid Integration business. This role will be in Vaasa (FI), where we have the team and an office.
The business unit designs and delivers complete substations for distribution and transmission grids. We are offering an interesting position in an international project environment and various development possibilities in the areas of design and engineering, research, and development. Because each project is different, your responsibilities will range widely and may include managing all aspects of secondary design from initial planning to final delivery.
Daily responsibilities include preparing design drawings, drafting essential construction documents, conducting engineering calculations, and overseeing commissioning processes. You will have the opportunity to apply your design expertise across diverse projects, both domestically in Finland and internationally.
How You'll Make An Impact
- Prepare and review substation documentations, for example, single line diagram, protection diagrams, interlocking diagrams, AC and DC drawings, calculations, control and protection panel drawings, IED configurations, cabling and bills of materials.
- Provide technical evaluation of supplier proposals and accepts as fit for purpose supplied equipment or services.
- Provide technical support during pre-FAT and FAT stage, handling installation and commissioning activities. Prepare project documentation within one's scope of deliverables.
- Participate in testing and commissioning.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project manager, design (Lead, Primary, Civil and commissioning), planner, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure seamless project integration and successful outcomes in international project environment.

Your background
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering.
- Proficiency in both spoken and written English and Finnish or Swedish.

- Willingness to participate in international projects.
- Willingness to travel up to 20%, both domestically and internationally.
- Previous experience in engineering work related to high and medium voltage substations is considered an asset.
- Experience in design software such as E3, AutoCAD, PCM600 is considered as an advantage.
- Understanding of substation control and protection systems is also considered beneficial.

Project Engineer, Primary

The opportunity
We are now looking for a Project Engineer for our Grid Integration business unit in Vaasa or Tampere, Finland. Since the work is conducted in projects, with every case being unique, your role will be very varying, such as responsibility for all activities related to substation primary (high voltage systems) design, which includes everything from base design to final delivery. Examples of daily activities are developing design drawings, generating basic documents for construction and performing engineering calculations. At our organization, you will have the opportunity to test your engineering skills in various types of projects, both in Finland and abroad. Luckily you will be working in a great team which will support you in any challenge you might face.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Prepare and review, or oversee, substation documents such as switchyard layout, cable routing, earthing and installation drawings.
- Ensure that the high-voltage systems are designed and executed according to the given specifications and regulations.

Your background

Commissioning Engineer

Our organization is now looking for two Commissioning Engineers in Finland. You will be part of a dedicated and skilled commissioning team within our Grid Integration business - Nordic Cluster (Finland, Sweden and Denmark). As a commissioning engineer, you are accountable for pre-commissioning and commissioning activities in our projects (e.g. HV substations for utilities, industry, data centers, etc.). You will also have opportunities to improve our quality and cost footprint by contributing to the base design platform, our commissioning and engineering processes, and tools.

How You'll Make An Impact
- Perform the testing and commissioning of HV & MV Substations, including HV/MV switchgears, power and aux transformers, AC & DC auxiliary systems, control & protection systems, etc.
- Take part in pre-commissioning meeting, commissioning planning activities and documentation preparation (e.g. FAT documentation, Site ITPs & ITRs, Method Statements, Control programs, etc.).
- Organize and perform FAT of C&P equipment in our test lab.
- Follow the instructions of electrical safety and other HSE instructions in accordance with customer requirements.
- Coordinate on-site commissioning activities together with Project Manager, Site Manager and Project Manager Engineering and other functions involved.
- Support tendering by providing commissioning plan and time/cost estimation.
- Act as commissioning leader/manager in particular projects, if appointed.
Your background
- A bachelor’s degree or above in the area of electrical engineering or similar
- A few years of working experience with commissioning of substations.
- Strong competence on the on-site testing of key components in substation.
- Experience in settings/configuring and testing of the relay protection (e.g. RET, RED, REB, REF series, or other vendors IEDs).
- Experience in commissioning of data centers substations is a plus (e.g. Microsoft, Google, Apple).
- Experience and knowledge of testing in digital substations according to IEC 61850 is a plus.
- Experience in substation secondary design role, or as PME (Lead engineer) role is a plus.
- Experience in substation engineering projects from tendering stage all the way to FAT testing and on-site implementation – SAT.
- You have a strong sense of safety, quality and responsibility and are willing to share knowledge & experience.
- You are fluent in Finnish and English written and spoken alike.
