Mid-Level Substation Engineer - Power Delivery Engineering

Position Overview

Join our premier in-house engineering group, a diverse team of engineers and technical professionals working on multiple cross-border projects in the power delivery market sector. We are currently looking for a motivated Substation Engineer to join our growing team! As part of the team of highly specialized design professionals, you will support a variety of substation, transmission, and distribution projects ranging from 12kv to 500kv.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a large project team, including both in-house inter-discipline engineers and construction superintendents, to provide clients with the industry's best in engineering and construction.
• Prepare technical specifications and interface with construction partners.
• Schedule, review, and coordinate design efforts with project personnel.
• Prepare design documents and drawings, including one and three-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, communications diagrams, wiring diagrams, substation layout plan, section and detail drawings, and application of mark-ups for project built drawings.
• Mentor and guide design coordinators, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of design standards, applicable engineering codes, and company guidelines, providing suggestions and recommendations as needed.
• Apply engineering application software to complete engineering tasks such as ground grid design, equipment sizing, relay coordination, and electrical studies.
• Ensure all designs comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality control measures.
• Collaborate with procurement teams to specify electrical components and equipment, ensuring they meet project requirements.
• Participate in meetings to discuss project scope, deliverables, and technical requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a CEAB accredited four-year college or university program required.
• P.Eng strongly preferred.
• At least 3 years’ experience as an electrical engineer in the substation industry.
• Proficiency with basic computer operation and standard software tools. Should have completed some introductory computer programming courses, as well as the ability to use design software tools.
• Experience in field construction work is a plus.
